Gaetane's Dance School has enjoyed a long history of providing dance instruction in Whitby, Ontario. Many of our pupils, having started with us as preschoolers, have continued in our school through adolescents and into young adulthood. At Gaetane's, we have created an atmosphere that promotes learning complimented with the enjoyment of dance. Our highly qualified staff have a thorough knowledge of dance technique to train students from the beginner to advanced levels. Whether you are four or 40 years old, Gaetane's Dance School offers a variety classes that are geared to the student's area of interest and skill level. Each June, Gaetane's holds a year end recital when students are able to demonstrate their ability for family and friends. This gala event is based on a theme and features full costuming Gaetane's friendly and relaxed atmosphere helps even the youngest dancers feel comfortable and confident. Our bright and spacious facilities are fully air conditioned and feature a sprung floor for ballet. Dance offers an individual the opportunity for personal growth. The right environment can enhance self confidence along with physical and emotional health;  but it also promotes self- discipline, as students strive to meet their personal goals. This is precisely why Gaetane's balanced approach of enjoyment AND learning is so important to students. Artistic Director Gaetane Hughes B.A.T.D., C.D.T.A., D.M.A. Gaetane has been a dancer, teacher and choreographer for the past 32 years. She is a respected member of the Canadian Dance Teachers Association, The British Association Teachers of Dance and Dance Masters of America. Gaetane is also an examiner for both the ballet and stage division of the Canadian Dance Teachers Association, examining students in ballet, tap, jazz, and acrobatics. She is also an accomplished adjudicator of dance and a musical theatre Choreographer. Throughout the years her students have won numerous awards at both Canadian and American Competitions. In addition to competitions, students attend workshops, take exams and appear on stage.
